Looking back, we are approaching the 30th anniversary of another historical set of commitments: the Declaration of Alma-Ata.

A way forward was clearly articulated in the Declaration of Alma-Ata, which launched the Health for All movement 30 years ago.

Primary health care was officially launched in 1978, when WHO member states signed the Alma Ata Declaration.

It will be released in mid-October, to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Declaration of Alma-Ata.

This was exactly what happened in Alma-Ata.

These principles echo the value system that captured world attention when the Declaration of Alma-Ata was signed 30 years ago.

It will be issued in a significant year: the 60th anniversary of WHO and the 30th anniversary of Alma-Ata.

That's why after Alma-Ata in 1978, everything seemed possible.
