TM1

At this point everything is ready to recycle the TM1 server and activate the LDAP authentication.

The Server Name refers to the name of the cube being served by an IBM Cognos TM1 server on the administration host machine.

This BC need to have browsing and read access to at least all the user entries which should be imported into TM1.

Now that the setup is complete you should be able to log in to TM1 using any client with your LDAP credentials.

Each TM1 user has a unique user name, he belongs to at least one group and he may have an email address.

The entries must exactly match the subject of the certificate presented to TM1 in the SSL handshake by the server on the other end.

For that reason it's possible to delegate the verification of the SSL certificate to TM1.

From the available product selection, ensure the TM1 product is selected before clicking the Next button.

Since the LDAP server is an external 3rd party software the configuration of SSL support is outside of TM1's scope.

With this setting TM1 will not verify the server certificate at all but simply accept it.

The FAP service then transforms this relational data into a TM1 cube.

TM1 expects the subject of the certificate received to match the server name of the configured endpoint.

In other words, only the TM1 application server and TM1 database are going to be hosted on the "TM1 server" .

Either the certificate is revoked or TM1 is looking for the CRL certificate but cannot find it in the Windows store.

Finally one can specify an LDAP schema attribute to map to the email property of a TM1 user.

With this logger tm1. log will contain additional information about why the certificate validation failed or what else went wrong.

When TM1 is configured to use LDAP authentication it will verify user credentials against the configured LDAP server.

In addition, modify for the name of your TM1 server.

Your data directories should not be affected by the installation of TM1 9. 5 over a prior version.

For more than one IBM Cognos TM1 Contributor application, repeat this and the previous chapter for each application.

Now after users have been created in TM1 the authentication for the TM1 server can eventually be switched to LDAP.

To allow data to pass from the Controller database into the TM1 cube an intermediate database is required.

FAP will enable business users to consume BI, OLAP-style reports on Controller data by leveraging TM1 technology.

Note: It is a best practice to define the Integrated Security Mode before designing the TM1 Contributor application.

Accept the default option ( "TM1" ) for the product to install (to install "TM1 Server and clients" ), and click Next.

In addition to this, you must have a separate service installed to be able to write and read data from theTM1 cube.

A TM1 administrator must obtain some information from the LDAP Administrator.

You will then be prompted for your TM1 login information.

Provide credentials that will allow TM1 Web to install this software on the server.

Second, for LDAP authentication there is communication between the TM1 server(s) and the LDAP server.

When TM1 is configured to verify the certificate there is a logger which can be added to the the tm1s-log. properties file.

There is an undocumented tool which TM1 uses silently when setting up it's certificates for internal ssl called importsslcert.

Please refer to the Proven Practice Document: TM1 Backup and Recovery Guide for further details on creating a backup for TM1 Data.

In other words, the TM1 cubes are not stored in the SQL database, but instead they are dynamically created from it.

After downloading the IBM Cognos TM1 9. 5. 1 Server install package, extract the contents of the archive to a directory.

During the export ETLDAP will read data from the LDAP and create the users and groups in TM1.

Note: Multiple data marts are possible, however each data mart must have a unique TM1 server to publish too.

To define which attributes of an entry found by the search go in to TM1 another dialogue is used.

You're now connected to LDAP and TM1 and can start importing users from the LDAP.

TM1 users log in through any client and present credentials.

Double-click the setup. exe file from TM1 installation disc.

The configurations described in this document apply to all versions of Microsoft Windows and TM1 9. 5 only.

This section tries to provide answers to the most common issues observed when setting up LDAP authentication for TM1 9. 5.

On the TM1 server locate the tm1s. cfg and tm1s. lic files and copy them into the newly created data directory.

If TM1 has been installed already then tm1s. cfg will already have some settings in place for the currently configured authentication mode.

Note: If some other authentication mode is used, ensure that all the proper settings are in place to allow ETLDAP to connect to TM1 server.

Once trust is confirmed (or that test has been skipped) TM1 will want to verify the CRL certificate.

By now the "Export" button should have become activated and it's time to start the export to TM1.

On the TM1 server, create a directory to store the new TM1 Server data.

TM1 itself will then build cubes in memory from the data that is held in the Data Mart (see diagram on the right).

First there is the TM1 user name ( "client" ) a user provides to authenticate to TM1.

TM1 9. 5 will overwrite the previous version program files in that directory.

As explained in Section 2. 2. 1 the TM1 server will connect to the LDAP server to verify the user credentials.

Scan the error code in tm1. log.

Since version 9. 1 TM1 supports encrypting those connections by SSL which is considered best practice.

If not already done, install TM1 9. 5 running the install wizard.

Only if a match is found TM1 will continue to process.

The screenshot below shows two compressed backup files: TM1Data. 7z for the TM1 Data Directory; and wwwroot. 7z for the TM1 Web files.

The ODBC Data Source must be created on the TM1 Server and named FAP.

Create an ODBC Data Source for TM1 to communicate with the FAP database.
