Absalom

So he took three javelins in his hand and plunged them into Absalom's heart while Absalom was still alive in the oak tree.

And unto Absalom there were born three sons, and one daughter, whose name was Tamar: she was a woman of a fair countenance.

In the course of time, Absalom provided himself with a chariot and horses and with fifty men to run ahead of him.

him to bow down before him , Absalom would reach out his hand, take hold of him and kiss him .

Desolate as she was, Tamar stayed in her brother Absalom's house.

Meanwhile, Absalom and all the men of Israel came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel was with him .

And Absalom said unto him, See, thy matters are good and right; but there is no man deputed of the king to hear thee.

While they were in the way, that tidings came to David, saying, Absalom hath slain all the king's sons, and there is not one of them left.

But Absalom pressed him, and he let Amnon and all the king's sons go with him.

Moreover Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Let me now choose out twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David this night.

And a certain man saw it, and told Joab, and said, Behold, I saw Absalom hanged in an oak.

28For two years Absalom stayed in Jerusalem but the king did not receive him.

Now Absalom and all the people, the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.

And with Absalom went two hundred men out of Jerusalem, that were called; and they went in their simplicity, and they knew not any thing.

Now Absalom, David's son, had a beautiful sister, whose name was Tamar. And after a time Amnon, David's son, loved her.

So Hushai David's friend came into the city, and Absalom came into Jerusalem.

And Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David's counsellor, from his city, even from Giloh, while he was offering the sacrifices.

so was all the counsel of Ahithophel esteemed, both by David and by Absalom.

Then Joab arose, and came to Absalom unto his house, and said unto him, Wherefore have thy servants set my field on fire?

And there came a messenger to David, saying, The hearts of the men of Israel are after Absalom.

And the king commanded Joab and Abishai and Ittai, saying, Deal gently for my sake with the young man, even with Absalom.

And one told David, saying, Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.

So they spread Absalom a tent upon the top of the house; and Absalom went in unto his father's concubines in the sight of all Israel.

And Absalom dwelt two full years in Jerusalem; and he saw not the king's face.

But Absalom fled and went to Talmai the son of Ammihud, king of Geshur. And David mourned for his son day after day.

Then said Absalom , Call now Hushai the Archite also , and let us hear likewise what he saith .

He was also very handsome and was born next after Absalom.

But the king covered his face, and the king cried with a loud voice, O my son Absalom, O Absalom, my son, my son!

And he also was very beautiful, the next in birth after Absalom.

And the king said unto Joab, Behold now, I have done this thing: go therefore, bring the young man Absalom again.

So Absalom's men did to Amnon what Absalom had ordered. Then all the king's sons got up, mounted their mules and fled.

Hushai replied to Absalom, "The advice Ahithophel has given is not good this time. "

So Absalom fled, and went to Geshur, and was there three years.

27There were born to Absalom three sons and a daughter named Tamar, a beautiful woman.

Thus, "Absalom, Absalom" is also about itself, as a work of the mind of man.

For Jehovah had ordained to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that Jehovah might bring evil upon Absalom.

King David similarly regretted his broken relationship with his son Absalom.

And Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now therefore why speak ye not a word of bringing the king back?

And the king said to Absalom, Nay, my son, let us not all now go, lest we be chargeable unto thee.

22And Absalom spake unto his brother Amnon neither good nor bad: for Absalom hated Amnon, because he had forced his sister Tamar.

Joab son of Zeruiah knew that the king's heart longed for Absalom.

And ten young men that bare Joab's armour compassed about and smote Absalom, and slew him.

This plan seemed good to Absalom and to all the elders of Israel.

So Joab arose and went to Geshur, and brought Absalom to Jerusalem.

and absalom her brother said unto her , hath amnon thy brother been with thee ?

And the king said unto Cushi, Is the young man Absalom safe?

Joab was told, "The king is weeping and mourning for Absalom. "

On the Indeterminacy of Absalom, Absalom!

And when Absalom's servants came to the woman to the house, they said, Where is Ahimaaz and Jonathan?

And all the people heard the king giving charge to all the princes concerning Absalom.

And the king said, Is the young man Absalom safe?

And the conspiracy was strong; for the people increased continually with Absalom.

If only I had died instead of you! O Absalom, my son, my son!

And the servants of Absalom did unto Amnon as Absalom had commanded.

32And the king said to Chusai: Is the young man Absalom safe?

And Absalom's servants set the field on fire.

And Absalom met the servants of David.

They stood by me when I fled from your brother Absalom.

And the king said to Joab, See now, I will do this thing: go then and Come back with the young man Absalom.

18But a lad saw them and reported to Absalom.

And Amnon said unto him, I love Tamar, my brother Absalom's sister.

And Amnon said to him, I love Tamar, my brother Absalom's sister.

And Absalom said to Hushai, Is this thy kindness to thy friend? why wentest thou not with thy friend?

Now absalom, before his death, had put up for himself a pillar in the king's valley , naming it after himself;

But if thou return to the city, and say unto Absalom, I will be thy servant, O king;
