As mentioned, one goal of SDO is that it is possible to represent the sort of structured data usually stored as XML.

Let's begin by pulling apart the term Service Data Object (SDO) to see how the name came about.

One of the responsibilities of the SDO DataGraph is to keep track of any changes within the object graph.

We'll see later where this type name was defined to SDO, as well as how the set of properties was specified.

You can parse business objects into a XML document and deserialize them from the XML document using Service Data Object (SDO) APIs.

Moreover, SDO promotes a uniform data access for a wide variety of data sources and services.

Another important concept in the SDO architecture is the data graph, a structure that encapsulates a set of data objects.

Interestingly, there is nothing in the SDO architecture that precludes the creation of DASes that employ a pessimistic concurrency model.

This simple example loads data from an XML file into an SDO data graph, prints and updates the data, then writes it back to a file.

Furthermore, this application is mostly read-oriented in nature and lends itself easily to a SDO implementation.

Two DASes are provided for the PHP implementation of SDO: one for working with data in XML and one for working with a relational database.

SDOs enable uniform access to application data and a common programming model for all data sources, wherever and however the data is stored.

A dynamic SDO containing three properties (firstName, lastName, and greeting) is returned to the JSP to display to the user.

Because SDO is so flexible, there will be lots of decisions you will have to make when you design your SDO application.

Application Developer also ships with a feature for generating the SDO package from an XSD document.

In this section, you will display records from multiple tables using the SDO wizard (in other words, perform a traditional JOIN with it).

Tools that leverage the SDO specification can quickly generate data-driven applications that aggregate multiple data sources.

Only DMSs access data sources, SDO applications do not.

The SDO framework includes several API models for traversing object data, which SDO products and SOA teams might decide to implement.

In sum: There is an object called $name, it has an SDO type of Name, and it is assigned to a property of $author called name.

SDO is an object-based programming specification for uniform access to various forms of data.

The anchoring construct in the SDO framework is the data object container, which consists of data objects and primitive type members.

You give the Relational DAS a SQL query to execute, and it will issue the query and break the result set into a graph of SDOs.

So far so good, but there are two important aspects to SDO reference properties we must describe.

You can use a SOAP API to communicate content using XML data structures or a Java API to communicate content using SDO data graphs.

A number of vendors have announced or shipped support for SDO, EII, or both.

There are a number of reasons why you might consider using SDOs, the main ones outlined below.

There is no type conversion for SDO reference properties.

Creation and initialization of the "expected" output SDO so you can compare it with the actual output SDO that is returned by the map.

As mentioned in the introduction, SDOs rely on the existence of DASes.

We recommend "All" as the type of package: emf-sdo-xsd-SDK-2. 0. 1. zip, so that you get source, runtime and docs all in one file.

How to use the SDO generator, and the differences in the code generated using the Create SDO package action, were also discussed.

To use both lists and DataObjectPtrs correctly, you must now address memory management in SDO.
