AJDT

Summary: Use the AJDT's cross-references view as you develop your aspect to see which join points it is likely to advise.

AJDT bundles several example projects for your convenience, along with a simple wizard to import them into your workspace.

We've seen how AJDT shows the crosscutting nature of AspectJ by adding editor markers and decorating advised elements.

I'm happy to say that the new AJDT for Eclipse is a great set of tools.

Given the potential of reusable aspect libraries, you can expect the general support in this area to increase in later releases of AJDT.

Using visual tools: The two patterns described here leverage AspectJ's IDE support for Eclipse, also known as AJDT.

Whilst this overhead cannot be avoided completely, future releases of AJDT and the AspectJ compiler will focus on reducing it.

AJDT is an open source Eclipse. org tools project and is released under the terms of the EPL.

In a future version of AJDT, a "uses pointcut" relationship could be exposed to facilitate this connection.

AJDT is implemented by a growing number of plug-ins that are AspectJ-enabled.

The AJDT project provides Eclipse Platform-based tool support for aspect-oriented software development with AspectJ.

Note that as of this writing, only AJDT provides a crosscutting comparison tool.

The documentation has even been overhauled to help you get the most from AJDT.

In AJDT it has been configured to show crosscutting relationships for the current element.

Because AJDT extends the JDT in Eclipse, it automatically benefits from the annotation support added there.

As you can see, AJDT still shows you the crosscutting structure of your application, regardless of the development style used.

The next page undoes any global workspace settings made by AJDT 1. 1, and the final page introduces the new Cross References view.

An additional image decorator is provided by AJDT to indicate which elements are affected by advice.

The Eclipse AJDT makes the creation of new build configurations simple.
