This species is variable in the shape, size, and indumentum of the leaves and in the length of the neck of the female perianth tube.

Perianth lobes linear, usually less than 1 cm wide, apex acuminate; perianth tube straight.

Male flowers: perianth tube rigid, short, lobes 5, usually distinct beyond disk, valvate or slightly imbricate in buds.

Perianth tube greenish, distinctly angled, ca. 2 cm, sparsely pubescent, ribbed, apex 5-lobed, hairs short, curved away from pedicel.

Bisexual flowers: perianth tube mostly connate to ovary, lobes 3(or 4), triangular or ovate, with a tuft of hair adaxially.

Male flowers: perianth tube whitish, lobes 5, triangular, distinct from discs.
