The BSM is integrated with a simple FileNet P8 workflow, which manages documents associated with the loan application.

The goal is to provide you with insight on how you can leverage different parts of IBM FileNet P8 to produce similar solutions.

When you create a P8 object store using FEM, you can specify the default type of storage area for that object store.

As its name implies, content in a database storage area is stored within a table in the P8 object store database.

Fixed storage areas can be used to store P8 documents to an external repository.

The main problem with using P8 cooperative locking for this use case is that it is only cooperative locking.

Also, just to make sure there is no confusion, P8 does not use file system directories to implement P8 Content Manager folders.

Because this is a built-in P8 feature implemented in the server, you might develop an implementation similar to what is shown in Listing 2.

One way to get around this issue is to use the P8 API to specify the storage properties for the reservation on the checkout command itself.

FileNet P8 provides support for document-centric business processes (workflows).

The P8 server automatically transitions the storage area state when certain conditions are met on the storage area.

In the CFS scenarios, the staging area is used to store new versions of federated documents that are created by P8 applications.

After completing the form, the field specialist updates the document in FileNet P8 and completes the task.

The last two states are set internally by the P8 server.

The P8 administrator can then add more space to that storage area or adjust the storage policy so that a new storage area can be selected.
