Compatibility and usability are of much greater importance, and OpenOffice achieves both perfectly.

For example, both OpenOffice. org and KOffice are included on the LiveCD; but few programmers' editors and development IDEs are included.

Microsoft's OOXML Format is rival to the Open Document Format (ODF), which is used by OpenOffice and other applications.

Ubuntu is based on Debian (see below) and includes well-known apps such as Firefox and OpenOffice. org.

You should have an application that can create and open ODF files, such as the OpenOffice. org application suite or IBM Lotus Symphony.
