Boot loaders are usually configured in one of two ways: either as a primary boot loader or as a secondary boot loader.

The partition must be big enough to hold the boot loader and any kernels or RAMdisks you may wish to boot.

These steps start the Debian boot loader which will display a menu page for you to select a boot kernel and options.

At the boot loader prompt, you can press the Tab key to see all of the available labels you can type to boot your machine.

The SILO boot loader has been successfully installed on your new boot partition, and your system should now be able to boot itself.

The screen that appears prompts you to customize the boot loader configuration, as shown in Figure 12.
