KDC

The KDC supplies the ME with single-sign-on credentials in the form of a Key Encryption Key (KEK).

The following steps are required on both the KDC machines to set up an inter-realm between the two realms that have been configured so far.

KDC is responsible for key distribution and all the authentication processes which may take place in the network.

Since the slave KDC is meant for backing up the master KDC in an emergency, the slave KDC might need to use the read-write copy.

Each IDS server principal shares its own private key with KDC, and this key is stored in the server's keytab file.

The host running the KDC should run essentially no other services to minimize the risk of compromise.

Concatenate the user's password, the KDC realm name, and the user's username together to form a string.

Most KDC servers present a setup option to allow the configuration of individual clients.

The Kerberos KDC uses this principal information stored in LDAP to authenticate the user.

Check the list of supported Kerberos encryption types on client and server (and KDC).

Many enterprises worldwide use IBM NAS for AIX as the Key Distribution Center (KDC) for their Kerberos realm.

So even if both the LDAP master servers are down, the slave KDC should continue its service by using the LDAP replicas.

The -E option specifies that it configures the slave KDC server.

If this error occurs, synchronize the clocks in the IDS client, server, and KDC machines.

The authentication service is the same as the KDC in Kerberos.

ksetup: This utility puts the administration and the information of the KDC servers in the LDAP directory.

The kadm5. acl (access control list) file resides on the KDC host and controls access to the Kerberos database.

To achieve this, depending upon the network span and load on master KDC, you can add more slave KDCs.

The KDC holds the passwords of all the principals in a realm.

The client cert name does not matches the user name or the KDC name is incorrect.

In Kerberos, KDC is the single point of failure for the whole network.

For now, use config. krb5 to configure a simple IBM NAS client to the above configuration of master-slave KDCs.

Edit the krb5. conf and kdc. conf configuration files to reflect your realm name and domain-to-realm mappings.

The server service principal should exist in KDC database.

These schema definitions are used by TDS for IBM NAS KDC and administration server lookup.

The KDC service enables users to log on to the network using the Kerberos V5 authentication protocol.

The credential can be obtained from the KDC server using the kinit command.
