单词 shall
释义
shall ★★★
MODAL VERB
/ʃel/
strong /ʃæl/
Shall is usually followed by an infinitive without ‘to’ shall通常后接不带to 的不定式: I shall explain everything later. 我等会儿来解释这一切。 Sometimes it is used without a following infinitive有时后面不带不定式: I have never visited America and probably never shall. 我从未去过美国,可能永远也不会去。
Shall does not change its form, so the third person singular form does not end in ‘-s’ shall没有词形变化,因此它的第三人称单数形式依然是shall: The President shall appoint all ambassadors with the consent of the Senate. 总统任命的所有大使都要获得参议院的批准才行。
Questions and negatives are formed without ‘do’ 在疑问句和否定句中不用助动词do: Shall I come with you? 我和你一起去好吗?
The negative form shall not can be shortened in conversation or informal writing to shan’ t .
其否定形式shall not 在对话或非正式文体中可缩写为shan’t。
Shall has no participles and no infinitive form. Shall can be used for forming the future tense of another verb when the subject is ‘I’ or ‘we’ , but it does not have a future tense of its own shall 没有分词和不定式形式。在句子主语是I 或we 时,它可以与另外一个动词连用构成将来时态,但该词本身并无将来时形式 We shall see you tomorrow. 我们明天去看你。
Should can sometimes be used as the past tense of shall , for example, in indirect speech introduced by a verb in the past tense should有时可用作shall的过去式,比如在由动词过去式引导的间接引语中 I hoped that I should not need to defend myself. 我希望我将来不需要为自己辩护。
Shall have followed by a past participle forms the future perfect tense and shows that an action will be completed before a particular time in the futureshall have后接过去分词构成将来完成时,表示在将来的某个时间前某一动作已经完成: We shall have completed the first section by Monday 到周一我们就会完成第一部分。
