Foot Guards

[plural]- (in Britain) six infantry regiments (= groups of soldiers who fight on foot) whose historical duty has been to protect the king or queen. They are the Grenadier Guards, the Coldstream Guards, the Scots Guards, the Irish Guards, the Welsh Guards and the London regiment.
