It is known for Hollywood, Disneyland, Silicon Valley and for its agricultural and wine products. Its history has included the Gold Rush of 1849 and the San Francisco earthquake (= a sudden, violent movement of the earth's surface) of 1906. Ronald Reagan was the governor of California from 1966 to 1974. Arnold Schwarzenegger served two terms as governor from 2003 to 2011.
