- a large area of land full of water in the US states of Georgia and Florida. It covers 600 square miles/1 554 square kilometres and is part of Georgia's Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge. The animals there include alligators (= large reptiles), bears, deer, raccoons and many types of birds and fish.
