- a public procession held every year in London, when the newly elected Lord Mayor of London rides in a carriage through the City of London to the Law Courts where they swear loyalty to the king or queen of the time. The carriage is joined by various other vehicles and people in colourful costumes. The ceremony takes place on the second Saturday in November.
