Arthur Koestler

- (1905-83) a British author, born in Hungary. His experiences as a Communist in the 1930s and later as a prisoner during the Spanish Civil War influenced his most famous novel, Darkness at Noon (1941). He also wrote many books about science, including The Act of Creation (1964), about the relationship between science and art.
