Two types of load were applied to investigate the change of tooth fracture resistance after restored with MOD inlay.

The results show that the fracture may be due to improper heat treatment which leads to over hardness of the thread part and the joint of thread part and tooth part.

Fracture tooth of gear shaft in well drilling pump was analysed by chemical analysis, mechanical testing metallographic examination macro and microfractography.
