Like in an infinite flow, we find that laminar boundary layer, transition region and turbulent boundary layer also exist along a flatplate in open channel flow boundary layers.
The width of the wake is larger and the base pressure of the plate is lower in comparison with the fully turbulent wake behind a smooth flatplate at the same flow conditions.
