To formulate animal health standards, enact and promulgate state standards on veterinary drugs, standards for residue limits of veterinary drugs and residue test and organize their implementation.

Within FDA, the Center for Veterinary Medicine is responsible for the regulation of animal drugs, medicated feeds, food additives and feed ingredients, including pet foods.
