Based on laboratory experiments and in-situ observations, it has been proved that outburst of coal and gas in in-seam drivage is a chain reaction process of disc tensile fracture in a working face.

During the drivage of main-gate in long-wall face with fully mechanized caving mining, the gate is hard to support due to its loose and broken roof, large cross-section and long span.
