The BPC samples page shows how to add the People Assignment Criteria to a task using the file based registry, which is the default repository shipped with WebSphere Application Server.

By default, a variable is scoped to the function in which it is first assigned to, or is global if its first assignment occurs outside any function.

For roles with mandatory staff assignment, the default for an empty result set additionally applies.
