A new method for reducing coreloss and excitation current in transformers that utilizes the fundamental principles of third-harmonic flux modulation is proposed in this paper.

The study shows that the third-harmonic flux with a certain value added to the fundamental flux can obviously reduce both coreloss and excitation current.
