This paper is concerned with the decay rates of the solution to the strong planar rarefaction waves for scalar conservation laws with degenerate viscosity in several space dimensions.
The roll decay test in still water and roll tests in regular waves at zero speed on model of a deep-Vee planing craft are conducted, and problems arising from the data processing are discussed.
In the second part of Chapter 2 we give a new measure about the rarefaction waves, and a sharp decay estimate of the new measure is established for the cubic nonlinear system of conservation laws.
