The method of arc-length parameter space provides a good solution for the surface grid of complex geometry contour, and establishes the foundation for the further analysis carried out.
The contour size changes of rail before and after straightening, involving width of rail head, rail height and rail length, were measured. The causes of rail height decrease were analyzed.
