A new type of impregnated diamond bit with two sorts of diamond abrasives has been developed, which can improve both penetration rate and service life simultaneously.

In order to improve bit life span this paper puts forward a thought of using the techniques and formulas of making diamond enhanced tungsten carbide composite button to make impregnated diamond bit.

The experimental apparatus and methods for determining the anisotropic index of a diamond impregnated bit were introduced.
