Some design parameters of gearing are fuzzy chance variables. This paper presents a method for the fuzzy reliability design of gearing and gives the calculating formulas and design examples.

Instance variables must be used with a certain amount of care, and it is probably best to avoid them until you have a chance to learn about some of the appropriate strategies in Chapter 5.
