The correlation slope of strain and water level in same borehole at the Urumqi station is computed by the regression analysis and the anomaly of slope is identified by the sieve variance method.

In this research we verify the hypotheses by multiple linear regression, analysis of variance, factor analysis and correlation analysis.

Conclusion: It is easy to understand the analysis of covariance and analysis of variance can also be considered in regression analysis setting by defining appropriate dummy variables.
