The researchers gathered 144 Swiss college students, sat them in isolated cubicles, and then asked them to answer various questions, such as the number of new immigrants living in Zurich.
The paintings come from the Met’s own collection and the Rietberg Museum in Zurich (where the show originated), as well as from a number of other public and private collections.
