Intranuclear inclusions were found in epithelial cells of renal proximal convoluted tubules in lead - poisoning animals.

Here is a glomerulus with thickened pink capillary loops, the so-called "wire loops", in a patient with lupus nephritis. The surrounding renal tubules are unremarkable.

These findings suggest that detecting functions of renal tubules have important significances in estimating the development of PGD and the degree of damages in tubulointerstitium.
