On the basis of the general design, this paper studied reliability optimal design of V-belt transmission.

The paper represents the exact calculation formula for the vigor imposed on the shaft in ordinary V-belt transmission and the verification through examples.

Some compared experiments are carried out with a modified V belt transmission experimental test.
