A variable structure controller for Static var Compensator (SVC) which can improve power Angle stability of power system and local voltage characteristics of SVC is proposed.
The result of simulation shows that the proposed variable structure controller can improve dynamic characteristics of system more effectively in contrast to conventional voltage controller of SVC.

Then this paper chooses the suitable variable to design the voltage and current double closed-loop controller, which has well stability and fast transient response.
