Valve Service and Maintenance includes installing new seat inserts, cleaning or replacing valve guides, servicing the camshaft and camshaft bearings, and timing the valves.

The reasons are: different top heights of valve rods having the same names; loose adjustment nuts or adjustment screws moving; and big clearances between valve guides and valve rods.

The disc assembly maintains contact with the guides through the full valve stroke.
