It has not only standardized what must be reported to register a trial but is creating a global trial identification system that will confer a unique reference number on every qualified trial.

To reduce confusion and as a service to aid in the unambiguous identification of trials, the ICTRP Search Portal attempts to bridge (group together) such multiple records about the same trial.

Conclusions are limited by the identification of only one trial, the methodological shortcomings of that trial, and the absence of data on accidental pregnancies.
