High torque to weight ratio, high efficiency and wide speed range should be the qualities possessed of by the motor drive systems in Electric Vehicles.

Based on this method, the accurate control pulses are generated from the PC timer and used for driving the step motor to realize a wide range speed control smoothly.

Results show that two-phase SR motor can be designed to produce continuous torque characteristic in wide speed range.
