This paper presents a new design philosophy on acceleration lane that the traffic volumes on main line of expressway and on ramp are considered in the computation of the acceleration lane length.
The length design of the acceleration lane depends on not only traffic speed but also traffic volume of the main line and ramp of expressway interchanges.
