This paper introduces a practiced method of calculating the tracer contour data of YX-173A cam milling machine from the discrete curve of brake cam contour, based on the copying principle.

With tracer-controlled milling, however, the required form is generated by causing a tracer, directly coupled to a cutting head, to follow a template or a model.
