In this archival image, released on the 16th anniversary of, and taken by, the Hubble Space Telescope, we see the sharpest wide-angle view ever taken of the starburstgalaxy Messier 82.
"We are seeing this galaxy after the major starburst has occurred," explained team member Joseph Silk of the University of Oxford. "the most massive stars are already gone."
