Press Control-Z to suspend a running job; type bg and fg to run a job in the background and foreground, respectively; and type jobs to manage the list of jobs.

Similarly, if you run the runclock3.sh script of Listing 4, and press Ctrl-c in the terminal window where the script is running, the script will immediately terminate without shutting down the clock.
