Conclusion: the ideal choice of internal fixation devices should combine mechanics of fixture well with skeletal biomechanics, and the balance of mechanics should be in the course of fracture healing.
Skeletal muscle injury occurs very often to athletes. Among current therapies for this injury are cold compress, local injection, fixation, rest, and pain-reducing physical therapy, etc.
The authors concluded that, unless a patient is already undergoing general anesthesia, there is no significant advantage of external fixation as compared with skeletal traction.
