CITY folk never tire of saying that London's share-trading business is too crowded.

Chinese retail investors are rushing to open new share-trading accounts at a faster rate than ever before, in spite of increasing signs of a resurgent bubble in the mainland market.

That includes mandatory quarterly reporting — listed companies now have to report earnings only twice a year — and a ban on share trading by company insiders ahead of results announcements.
