The ECM receives its load command from a variable voltage signal through a foot pedal sensor with IVS. It then translates this position command into a load percentage command.

If you don't have such a signal available, you will have to rig a rotary POT variable resistor to the gas linkage ie coupled to something at the gas pedal or throttle cable running to the carb or Fl.
