So we are burning up an enormous amount of fuel at every launch just to get the rocket up to what's known as escape velocity.

This makes a powerful exhaust through the back of the rocket and pushes the rocket up.

"It's a success that we have gotten the rocket up into the air, and I think that we have written a little bit of history," von Bengtson told the Post.
