Mexican official says the search for an American tourist believed to have been shot while crossing a border lake has been called off.

Last month, a costly fire swept around Lake Tahoe, on the border of Nevada and California.

It covers most of New York's "North Country" from Lake Ontario in the west, crossing the Adirondacks and running along the Canadian border to Vermont.
