Abdominal or back pain or a tender abdomen suggests pancreatitis, ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm, peritonitis, and, in women of childbearing age, ruptured ectopic pregnancy.

Methods: Ultrasonography was performed in 5 patients with abdominal pregnancy. The sonographic results were correlated with surgical and pathologic findings.

In cases of pregnancy and recent abdominal surgery, stronger side-bending and twisting postures may not be suitable and a modification should be given.
