This paper deals with the present situation, prospect and significance of the research for continental Cretaceous red beds to reconstruction of paleoclimate in the Cretaceous period.

Applying sequence stratigraphy principle and sedimentary system analysis, the "red beds" in Upper Cretaceous Epoch in Suizhou basin has been studied on sequence stratigraphy.

So far, in studies of Fujian stratigraphy the stratigraphical division and correlation of red beds from Western Fujian are still a problem which is divergent on and argued about.
