Although the pesticide TDX has been widely used by fruit growers since the early 1960's, a regulation in force since 1960 has prohibited sale of fruit on which any TDX residue can be detected.

Contrary to a widely reported "fact," meat typically contains less pesticide residue than plant-based foods, according to Debra Edwards, the director of EPA \ 's Office of pesticide Programs.

Foods that typically have high levels of pesticide residue include peaches, strawberries, sweet bell peppers, celery and lettuce.
