Sometimes, you only need to copy the files that have changed since the last time you performed a copy, essentially synchronization rather than a complete re-copy.

They can then copy that instance as an image and re-instantiate it in one of the other pools to perform pre-production testing, or deploy the instance in the live production environment.

You then would copy back all your data files and re-install your programs.
