The device enables infantry soldiers to lift and carry weights of up to 90kg in the field, and consists of a hydraulic-powered frame which straps around the soldier's body.

The machine incorporates four high-powered fans and integrated airbags that inflate to lift it from the ground.

The F-35B is powered by a single Pratt &Whitney F135 engine driving a Rolls-Royce lift fan.
