Thin client (computing) : a server-centric computing model in which the application software, data, and CPU power resides on a network server rather than on the client computer.

There is no need to understand the mechanics of the software, so it is a step forward from implementation-centric interfaces, but its power and usefulness has been inflated to unrealistic proportions.
