The series of products can constitute electrical powerboxes, control boxes, signal boxes and other devices by installing connecting terminals, cable joints, button switches or signal lights.
The original iron boxes with the round roofs first appeared in 1926. They were designed by Giles Gilbert Scott, the architect of the Battersea Power Station in London.
Bloom Energy are producing tiny fuel cell boxes they call "Bloom boxes." Two of these can apparently power a U.S. home (and only one for homes in countries that use less power).
